All-Party Parliamentary Fire Safety and Rescue Group

The Group began in 1997 with the purpose of meeting to discuss topical fire safety issues with specialists in this field. It now comprises around twenty-five Parliamentarians - Peers as well as MPs - with a particular interest in fire safety and the fire service, either because of their personal and professional backgrounds or constituency concerns.

Typically the Group sponsors four or five meetings annually at which issues of the day are outlined and debated.

Current Joint Chairmen of the Group are Michael Clapham MP (Labour) and David Amess MP (Conservative) with Bob Russell MP (Liberal-Democrat) as Honorary Secretary. Douglas Smith acts as Honorary Administrative Secretary, through whom all inquiries to the Group should be addressed at:-
